MILAN (AP) — Napoli began the new Serie A season with an impressive 2-0 win over Sassuolo. The players, who previously competed in the Premier League, Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay, became the heroes of the match.

McTominay, who was recognized as the Player of the Season in Serie A last season, opened the scoring in the 17th minute of the match, heading in a pass from Matteo Politano. De Bruyne, who joined Napoli in July, scored in the 53rd minute from a free kick, curling the ball into the far corner.

Sassuolo finished the match with ten men: Ismaël Koné received a red card after getting a second yellow in the closing moments of the second half.
