On Saturday, August 23, 2025, a UFC tournament took place in Shanghai, where in the main event, Johnny Walker from Brazil achieved an unexpected victory over local star Zhang Mingyan in the lightweight division. Walker, who aimed to bounce back after two losses, finished the series of Mingyan with 12 consecutive victories, delivering a blow to the bottom that prompted the referee to stop the fight.
Zhang Mingyan, who until this fight was competing with great success, could not cope with the attack from Walker. Despite the fact that Mingyan had the advantage in the early rounds, Walker managed to withstand the pressure and dominated in the later part of the fight.
In the co-main event, Brian Ortega, who was competing with Aljamain Sterling, also could not demonstrate his best qualities, losing by unanimous decision to the judges. Sterling, previously having fought in the heavyweight division, successfully returned to the bantamweight division and decisively defeated his opponent.
In additional bouts, Sergey Pavlovich achieved a victory over Waldo Cortes-Acosta, demonstrating his skills in the heavyweight division. This allowed him to secure his place in the top 3 of the division.
