Discussing the issue of military aid to Ukraine from NATO
- NATO plans to provide Ukraine with military aid amounting to 50 billion dollars in 2025.
- The issue of the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine is still not being discussed.
- Guarantees of security from a coalition of 30 countries are ready to support Ukraine.
This is reported by Interfax Ukraine, RBC Ukraine, Ukrinform.
The head of NATO's military committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavoli, emphasized that the issue of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine for ensuring peace after the end of the war with Russia is "still at the initial stage." He noted that at meetings of military leaders from the USA and coalition countries, they discuss ways to normalize the situation in Ukraine.
Dragon also reported that NATO provided Ukraine with military aid totaling 50 billion dollars in 2024, with similar commitments planned for 2025. "We intend to continue military aid and even increase it," he noted.
Discussing security issues, Dragon mentioned that security guarantees, which involve politics, must specify the context, including who makes decisions on violations of agreements, and what rules apply to the use of force. He emphasized that NATO has not discussed sending its troops to Ukraine at this time.
Moreover, Admiral Dragon noted that the coalition of willing countries, consisting of 30 nations, is ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees, but the issue of the deployment of foreign troops in the country is still not being resolved. US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington is committed to these guarantees, but the key role in their realization belongs to European states.
