Cowboys continue negotiations with Micah Parsons without results
- Parsons has not yet signed a new contract with the Cowboys.
- Jones occupies a strong position in the negotiations.
- The situation is complicated due to relations with the player's agent.
This is reported by Marca, Marca.
Micah Parsons, who is a key defensive player for the Dallas Cowboys, has not yet signed a new contract. Jerry Jones, the owner of the team, occupies a strong position in the negotiations, which have already lasted several months.
Parsons, selected 12th in the 2021 NFL Draft, signed a four-year contract worth $17 million. This season, the Cowboys will pay him $24 million due to the team's option for the fifth year. However, despite his outstanding performance, including 52.5 sacks and four selections to the Pro Bowl, Parsons has not received a long-term contract.
Jones has no intention of backing down. He asserts that Parsons has already set a record proposal, but negotiations continue to remain stalled. The Cowboys owner also noted that his relations with Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, complicate the situation, and he believes that direct negotiations with the player are more effective.
This situation escalated after Parsons displayed a symbol during the match against Atlanta, which some consider a hint at a possible move to another team. On social media, his posts have emerged, indicating that he is not satisfied with the current state of negotiations.
Currently, the Cowboys are facing serious challenges: on one hand, they need to finalize a contract with Parsons, while on the other, they cannot afford to lose him if negotiations do not conclude successfully. Whether they manage to reach an agreement will depend on the future of the team in the upcoming season.
