The incident occurred around 7:00 PM local time when Borella was preparing in front of colleagues during the preparation for filming the final scene at the Danieli Hotel. Medical personnel who arrived on the scene were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following his death, filming of the series has been temporarily suspended. In a joint statement, the companies Netflix and Paramount Television Studios expressed their condolences to Borella's family and friends, stating that their hearts are with them during this difficult time.

Diego Borella had a successful career in the film industry, working in Rome and London. Despite the tragedy, filming resumed on September 23, but the atmosphere remained heavy due to the loss of a colleague.
