Zelensky Imposes New Sanctions Against Russian Companies

On August 23, 2025, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed two decrees that introduce new sanctions against individuals and legal entities that support the aggression of Russia.
The first decree synchronizes Ukrainian sanctions with those imposed by Canada and concerns 139 individuals and companies that assist Russia in conducting the war. In particular, the list includes relatives of the President of Russia Volodymyr Putin.
The second decree outlines sanctions against 28 foreign citizens who support the occupation authorities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Among the individuals who fall under the sanctions are:
- Lyudmila Ocheretnaya (ex-wife of Volodymyr Putin),
- Mikhail Putin (distant relative),
- Igor Zelensky (former son-in-law of Putin),
- other individuals associated with the Kremlin.
The sanctions include freezing assets, a ban on entry into Ukraine, restrictions on trade operations, and other restrictive measures lasting for 10 years.
Among the Russian companies that have also been subjected to sanctions, it is worth highlighting:
- Arnest Group (cosmetics manufacturer),
- Baltika brewery company,
- companies in the energy and logistics sectors.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine cooperates with international partners to coordinate sanctions so that all participants in Russia's aggression are held accountable.
These sanctions are part of Ukraine's efforts to strengthen pressure on all who support the war against Ukraine.
