- Diplomatic initiatives from the USA have faced challenges due to a lack of progress.
- Fighting continues in Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk region.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky urged the countries of the Global South to support diplomatic efforts to compel Russia to agree to end the war with Ukraine.
In a social post following a meeting with the President of Southern Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Zelensky emphasized the importance of ending the conflict, stating that "the killings and destruction must come to an end."
"I reaffirmed my readiness for any format of a meeting with the head of Russia," said the Ukrainian leader, referring to President Vladimir Putin.
However, according to Zelensky's statements, Moscow is trying to delay negotiations. He stressed the importance of the Global South sending appropriate signals and pressuring Russia to achieve peace.
This call comes against the backdrop of new diplomatic efforts, led by the President of the USA Donald Trump, who appears to have stalled following a lack of progress in the negotiations.
Furthermore, fighting continues in Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of several settlements in the Donetsk region, indicating further advancement of Russian troops.
