Antuan Semenyi demands severe sanctions for racism

  • Antuan Semenyi called for severe sanctions against racism in football.
  • During the match "Liverpool" - "Bournemouth", racist slurs were recorded.
  • Semenyi scored two goals, turning the situation into motivation.

The Bournemouth club forward Antuan Semenyi expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of sanctions for racism in football after he reported racist insults during his team's match against "Liverpool". The incident occurred on September 15 during the opening of the Premier League season, when Semenyi received insults from the stands at the "Anfield" stadium.

Following the police report from Merseyside, on September 16 a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offense. Semenyi also noted that he received insults on social media after the match ended.

"This is just shocking," said Semenyi in an interview with ITV News. He believes that punishment for such actions should be much more severe. "It is necessary to impose stricter sanctions. For those fans who can get away with this, it is not worth it to be complacent about reporting this and demanding maximum punishment," he added.

Semenyi suggested that the maximum punishment could include a stadium ban or a lengthy suspension from attending matches. During the match, "Bournemouth" was leading 2-0, but Semenyi scored two goals in the second half, which allowed them to equalize the score. However, "Liverpool" won the match with a score of 4-2.

Semenyi noted that the incident with the insults initially caused him distress, but it became motivation for his performance in the second half of the match. "I was quite upset at halftime. I realized what had happened, and I used it as fuel for my goals," he recounted.
