In Ukraine, discussions continue regarding the possible participation of international peacekeeping forces in stabilizing the situation after the cessation of hostilities. In particular, Germany and Austria are discussing their role in this process.
In Germany, politicians are actively discussing the possibility of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine. According to a Civey survey, 51% of Germans oppose the participation of the Bundestag in a peacekeeping mission, while 36% support this idea. Many German politicians, including representatives of the CDU party, express caution, stating that participation in such a mission could lead to the deployment of military forces from the country.
At the same time, Austria is also conducting surveys regarding the possibility of sending its troops. According to Gallup data, 42% of Austrians support the idea of their troops participating in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, while 44% oppose it. Particularly, this initiative is supported by young people and the representatives of green parties.
Both countries emphasize the importance of diplomatic efforts in ensuring stability in the region. In Austria, 79% of respondents believe that the country should remain neutral and engage in peacekeeping missions, rather than deploying military forces.
Politicians in Germany and Austria acknowledge that any decision regarding participation in peacekeeping forces will depend on the further development of the situation in Ukraine and the need to ensure security in the region.
