Los Angeles — Brothers Lyle and Eric Mendenes received a denial of conditional release from the commission in California, which took place on August 23, 2025. In the hearings, the commission emphasized that the behavior of the brothers in custody remains a cause for concern, indicating violations of rules, including the use of banned mobile phones.

Lyle Mendenes, during the hearing, expressed sorrow for the learned crimes and sought to explain his actions related to the abuse in the family. He stated that their parents inflicted physical and sexual abuse on him, but the commission noted that his actions remain unrepentant.
