A Few Months Without a Body: British Volunteer Killed in Ukraine

  • Enni Lyuys Marffy was killed in Ukraine as a result of an attack by a drone.
  • The family cannot receive her body due to ongoing active hostilities.
  • The British authorities did not provide the necessary assistance to her family.

This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Ukrayinska Pravda.

69-year-old British volunteer Enni Lyuys Marffy was killed as a result of a Russian drone attack in Ukraine on June 2025. She arrived in Ukraine from Poland on June 4 to deliver humanitarian aid.

Marffy worked with the organization Aid Ukraine and was heading to Kramatorsk in a green Toyota RAV4. After her colleague was injured, she decided to continue the mission alone. The last time she communicated with her family was on June 8, after which contact was lost.

Along with police reports, on June 11 she received "trauma, incompatible with life" as a result of a drone strike. Her body remains in the zone of active hostilities, which complicates its return. The family has reached out to Ukrainian and British authorities, but so far has not received any assistance in obtaining a death certificate.

The family expressed concern through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain and local government bodies. They indicated that without this document they cannot complete the proceedings regarding the deceased's estate.

According to representatives of Aid Ukraine, obtaining a death certificate may take from six to twelve months, since the procedure requires evidence that is currently unavailable.
