In the World Cup match in rugby among women, which took place on September 23, 2025, in Manchester, Australia achieved an impressive victory over Samoa with a score of 73-0. This victory became a record for the Australian team, as they also scored 11 tries, which is the highest achievement in their history at the World Cups.
The first half ended with a score of 45-0. The standout performer was winger Desiree Miller, who scored three tries in the first half, but was forced to leave the field due to an injury after a collision with Samoa player Melina Grayce Salale, who became the first in tournament history to receive a red card.
Australia quickly opened the scoring, having scored their first try just 92 seconds into the match. Captain of the team, Katelyn Amosa, who debuted at the international level only in the spring, was the author of the first try. In the next match, Australia will play against the USA, which, if they win, will determine who advances to the playoffs alongside England.
