Sale of the Jordan and Bryant Card Sets New Record
- The Jordan and Bryant card was sold for 12.932 million dollars
- This is the highest price for a sports card in history
- The popularity of the Jordan and Bryant card is growing in the market
The unique card, featuring images of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, was sold for a record 12.932 million dollars at the Heritage Auctions auction on September 24, 2025. This card, which belongs to the 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection series, has become the highest-priced sports card in history, surpassing the previous record set by the 1952 card featuring Mickey Mantle, which was sold for 12.6 million dollars in September 2022.
This card is one of only a few examples that include autographs of both basketball legends. The card received a grade of 6 from Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), but its rarity significantly increased its value. According to Kris Aiwi, the director of sports auctions at Heritage, the card had been held by the previous owner, who declined offers of over 7 million dollars.
This sale underscores the ongoing popularity of Jordan and Bryant in the sports card market. Throughout 2025, Jordan remained the most popular sportsman on eBay, with total card sales exceeding 34 million dollars, while Bryant claimed fourth place with sales totaling 15.2 million dollars.
This card is unique, as it can feature patches from game jerseys of both players, making it even more desirable for collectors. It has also demonstrated a growing interest in sports cards in light of recent scandals surrounding the market.
