On August 23, 2025, in a show of solidarity with Ukraine, the Parliament of Canada in Ottawa was illuminated in the national colors of Ukraine. This was done as part of initiatives by the Ukrainian community in Canada, which shared photographs on Facebook.

In addition to the Parliament, the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada, located opposite the Parliament, was also illuminated in yellow and blue. According to the community, this symbolizes the unity of Canadians and Ukrainians.

Last night, the European Council building in Brussels was also illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, emphasized that this is a symbol of unwavering support for Ukraine, especially on the eve of Independence Day.

It is worth noting that the illumination of the Parliament of Canada is not usually used to commemorate events, but for Ukraine, this has become an exception.

It is recalled that earlier the Ukrainian flag was also raised at the city council of Ottawa, emphasizing the support of the Ukrainian people.
