Canada is providing Ukraine with weapons worth over 1 billion Canadian dollars in a new aid package, which includes drones, artillery shells, and armored vehicles. This was announced by Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney during the celebration of Ukraine's Independence Day.
He noted that at the G7 summit in June, Canada pledged additional military aid amounting to 2 billion Canadian dollars. "I am writing that I can announce that over 1 billion dollars from this aid will be used to strengthen your arsenal, particularly for the supply of drones, artillery, and armored vehicles, which will arrive next month," Carney said.
In addition, Canada will provide tens of millions of Canadian dollars for emergency medical assistance, the construction of bomb shelters, and strengthening local democracy in Ukraine, including support for the protection of cyberattacks.
Carney also emphasized that Canada, as a member of the international coalition, will strengthen cooperation with Ukraine, European partners, and the USA to ensure the immediate and unconditional return of Ukrainian children.
Canada has actively supported Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, providing financial, military, and humanitarian assistance. Canada is a member of the Ramstein format, which is focused on supporting Ukraine.
Earlier, Canada announced the allocation of 15 million dollars for the repair of Ukrainian Leopard 2 tanks in Poland. In June, Canada also transferred 1.7 billion dollars to Ukraine from the proceeds of seized Russian assets.
