Rasmus Hojgaard secured a spot on the European team for the Ryder Cup

  • Rasmus Hojgaard has secured his place on the European team for the Ryder Cup.
  • Shane Lowry is now waiting for the selection of the captain for the team.
  • Hojgaard will make his debut at the Ryder Cup in 2025.

Rasmus Hojgaard has guaranteed himself the last automatic spot on the European team for the Ryder Cup, finishing the competition at the British Masters at The Belfry. For this, he needed to finish no lower than 29th place, and he achieved this by finishing in 14th place with a result of -8.

Hojgaard started the tournament in eighth place in the rankings, trailing Shane Lowry by 13.6 points. In the end, his performance allowed him to rise to fifth place in the table of automatic qualifications for the Ryder Cup.

Other players who have already secured automatic spots include Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Tyrrell Hatton. Lowry is now hoping to secure one of the six captain's picks, which will be announced on January 1.

Hojgaard noted that he feels a great sense of happiness, but also a lot of pressure during the game. He will make his first appearance at the Ryder Cup, which will take place at Bethpage Black, New York, from September 26 to 28.
