The signed card of Jordan and Bryant has set a record
- The card with the signatures of Jordan and Bryant has become the most expensive in the world.
- The auction took place on September 23, 2025, with a record-breaking price.
- The card holds significant historical and emotional value for collectors.
An anonymous buyer paid a record-breaking £9.56 million ($12.9 million) at auction for the card with the signatures of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, making it the most expensive sports collectible card in history.
This card is known as 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs Jordan & Bryant and was sold at auction by Heritage Auctions in the United States. It had remained with its previous owner for over a decade and was valued before the auction at £4.4 million ($6 million). A total of 82 bids were placed, and the price increased significantly.
The winning bid surpassed the previous record set by the card 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, which was sold for $12.6 million in September 2022, at that time equivalent to £10.8 million at the common exchange rate. The Jordan and Bryant card is the second most expensive sports collectible ever, following only the baseball jersey of baseball legend Babe Ruth, which was sold for £18.1 million ($24.12 million) in September 2024.
The director of sports auctions at Heritage, Chris Ivy, noted that the card is the "pinnacle" for current collectors and has always been regarded as the "holy grail." He added that "it is impossible to recreate," which underscores its uniqueness.
Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest players in NBA history, having won six championships with the Chicago Bulls between 1991 and 1998. Kobe Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, is also an NBA legend and won five championships during two decades with the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2016.
