President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated during a press conference that the operation of the "Druzhba" pipeline and the political friendship between Ukraine and Hungary depend on the position of Budapest. He noted that the further operation of the "friendship" now depends on Hungary.

Zelenskyy responded to a journalist's question about whether Ukraine had a greater impact on Hungary after recent attacks on the "Druzhba" pipeline and appeals to U.S. President Donald Trump. The President of Ukraine emphasized that Hungary's position is key for the future of the pipeline.

Attacks on the "Druzhba" pipeline

The first attack on the pipeline occurred on September 13, and already on September 18, Ukrainian armed forces dealt another blow to the oil pumping station in the Tambov region of Russia. After this, a fire broke out at the site, and Russia subsequently halted oil pumping through the pipeline.

On September 21, drones again attacked the oil pumping station in Unecha, which led to a suspension of oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia. This happened the day after the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto announced the resumption of pipeline operations.

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban also commented on Trump’s response to his letter, in which Trump referred to him as "his big friend" and expressed his concern regarding the attacks on the pipeline.
