Shooting in the Bronx claimed the life of one person

In the Bronx, New York, a mass shooting occurred, resulting in the death of one person, while four others were injured, including a 17-year-old girl who was shot in the face. Police received a call about "a shooting with multiple victims" in Haffen Park at 7:30 PM on Saturday, August 24.

At the scene of the incident, authorities discovered a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest and a girl with a gunshot wound to the face. Both victims were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where the man was pronounced dead. His identity was established as Jaseya Banks, while the girl is currently in critical condition.

Two other injured individuals - a 30-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, who sustained gunshot wounds to the spine, as well as a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm - were hospitalized in stable condition. Four people were detained for questioning, but their names are not being released.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information about the shooting to provide any details. The motives behind the attack remain unknown. This marks the second mass shooting in New York City in two weeks. On August 17, another shooting occurred in Brooklyn, resulting in the death of three people.

It is worth noting that, according to police data, the number of homicides and shootings in New York City has decreased since the beginning of the year.
