Arne Slot expressed support for Haug, but the transfer of Isak continues
- Alexander Isak is set to miss the match against Liverpool.
- Slot believes that Haug must have sufficiently strong players in the team.
- The transfer situation with Isak has spilled over into relations between the clubs.
Arne Slot, the head coach of Liverpool, expressed limited sympathy towards Eddie Haug, the manager of Newcastle, in connection with the transfer situation regarding Alexander Isak. Slot emphasized that he believes Haug is a good person, but the sympathy cannot outweigh business interests, especially since Isak is not the only talented forward available for Newcastle.
Isak is expected to miss his first home match of the season against Liverpool as Newcastle attempts to force the club to agree to a record-breaking transfer fee of 110 million pounds. Liverpool has already signed his potential replacement, Ugo Ekitike, which has intensified the tension in relations between the clubs.
Slot acknowledged that the situation with Isak, who, according to sources, accused Newcastle of not fulfilling obligations, spilled over to Haug, but added that the manager has other stronger players, such as Gordon, Murphy, and Hellingham. Slot and Haug communicated after the final of the Carabao Cup, where Isak forgot to score the winning goal, and hopes that their relations remain positive, regardless of the tense situation at the club level.
In addition, Slot stressed that at Liverpool, there is a limited number of forwards, and they are looking for new options to strengthen the team.
