Novak Djokovic, currently ranked 7th, defeated former world number 1, Lirn Tien, in the first round of the US Open with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (3), 6-2. This victory marked his 19th consecutive win in the first round of this tournament.
During the match, Djokovic felt some physical difficulties. He immediately called for his team and received treatment on his right wrist. In the second set, he appeared to struggle, but managed to gather himself and win in a tiebreak. Djokovic noted that he wanted to show the youth of Tien, but he continues to compete at a high level.
In the third set, Djokovic regained his form and secured five games in a row, confirming his superiority. Djokovic's next opponent will be American qualifier Zachary Swede.
