Daniil Medvedev's Match Stopped at the US Open

- Bonzi failed to execute the serve after the interruption.
New York — The match between Daniil Medvedev and Benjamin Bonzi at the US Open was interrupted for more than six minutes due to a photograph on the stands. This happened when the photograph, considering that the match was reaching its climax, unexpectedly appeared on the court.
Bonzi, who won the match with a score of 6-3, 7-5, 5-4, missed the first serve, after which the photograph aimed to leave his place. Judge Greg Allenworth decided that Bonzi should receive another first serve after the interruption, which caused outrage in Medvedev.
Medvedev, known for his emotionality, turned to the judge with criticism and called on the audience to support his cry. He stated that the judge "wants to ask for a donation" and "receives money for the match, not for the hour." This provoked even more noise among the spectators, who began to whistle.
After the interruption, Bonzi served, but failed to execute the serve, as a result of which Medvedev won the next two points and ultimately won the set in the tie-break, continuing the match.
This episode recalls the incident in 2019, when Medvedev also clashed with angry spectators, but aimed to transform that energy into a positive.
