Zelensky's Pragmatic Peace with Putin During Independence Day Celebrations

  • Zelensky called a meeting with Putin the "most effective way" to achieve peace.
  • The USA is limiting Ukraine's use of long-range missiles.
  • Ukrainian forces have regained control of three villages in the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated during the Independence Day celebrations on August 24 that a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is the "most effective way" to achieve peace. He promised to "bring Russia to peace" under conditions of unconditional combat actions and drone attacks from both sides.

In the west, which took place in Kyiv, Zelensky noted that the key method is to ensure a "guaranteed peace" for Ukraine so that future generations do not experience war again. He emphasized that Ukraine is not a victim, but rather is fighting for its independence.

At the same time, Moscow's measures reported the destruction of two Russian Su-24 bombers that were approaching the capital. Also, according to reports, Ukrainian forces regained control of three villages in the Donetsk region, while Ukrainian drones caused a fire at a nuclear power plant in Kursk, which was quickly liquidated.

In addition, the USA continues to limit Ukraine's use of long-range missiles, such as ATACMS systems, through new control mechanisms that reduce Kyiv's operational capabilities. Zelensky noted that Ukraine has managed to conduct attacks using its own resources without consulting with the USA.
