Vietnam is preparing for Typhoon Kadsiki, which is approaching the coast

In Vietnam, schools, airports have been closed, and mass evacuations have begun, preparing for Typhoon Kadsiki, which is expected to be the strongest storm of this year. The typhoon, with wind speeds of up to 166 km/h, is approaching the northern coastal areas of the country and, according to forecasts, will make landfall on Monday afternoon.

The Vietnamese government warns that the typhoon will bring heavy rains, flooding, and landslides. As of early Monday morning, nearly 30,000 people had been evacuated from coastal areas, and evacuation plans are still being implemented in the northern provinces.

More than 16,500 military personnel and 107,000 local workers have been mobilized to assist in the evacuation and search-and-rescue operations. Two airports in the provinces of Thanh Hoa and Quang Binh have suspended their operations, and airlines have canceled dozens of flights.

The Kadsiki typhoon has already passed near the southern coast of China's Hainan Island, forcing the closure of businesses and public transport in the city of Sanya, where fallen trees and debris were reported.

The meteorological service predicts that the typhoon will move into the Gulf of Thailand through Laos and northern Thailand. Vietnamese officials compare Kadsiki to Typhoon Haiyan, which claimed the lives of nearly 300 people.
