On August 25, 2025, the Ukrainian Minister of Environmental Protection Andriy Syjarto responded to a statement by his Hungarian colleague, Partner Syjarto, who suggested that President Volodymyr Zelensky "stop threatening Hungary" due to the situation surrounding the oil producer "Druzhba".

Syjarto noted that "it is not necessary to indicate to the Ukrainian president what to do and to talk". He emphasized that Hungary's energy security depends on the country itself, including its diversification of energy sources and becoming independent from Russia, as the rest of Europe has.

It is worth noting that on July 21, Zelensky appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump with a request to influence Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban so that he did not block Ukraine's path to the EU.

On July 22, it was reported that the oil pipeline "Druzhba" on the borders of Russia and Belarus "was subjected to an attack for the third time in a short period of time". The Hungarian and Slovak ministers of environmental protection submitted a complaint to the European Commission regarding attacks on infrastructure.

On July 24, Syjarto suggested Zelensky to "stop threatening" after the president of Ukraine hinted at a connection between attacks on the oil producer and Hungary's position regarding Ukraine's membership in the EU.

The Slovak minister of environmental protection Juraj Blanar also expressed concern, stating that Ukrainian attacks on the oil producer may jeopardize national interests in Slovakia and could lead to a shortage of diesel fuel in Ukraine.
