Keurig Dr Pepper acquires Peet's Coffee for $18 billion
- Keurig Dr Pepper plans to acquire JDE Peet's for $18 billion.

New York — Keurig Dr Pepper announced its intention to acquire the owner of Peet's Coffee, JDE Peet's, in a deal worth approximately $18 billion ($15.7 billion euros).
After the completion of the acquisition, the company plans to separate into two distinct entities: one focusing on coffee and the other on beverages, including Dr Pepper, Canada Dry, 7Up, and energy drinks.
The coffee business generates about $16 billion in total sales, while the beverage business brings in approximately $11 billion.
“By combining the complementary strengths of Keurig and JDE Peet's, we are creating a global coffee powerhouse,” said Tim Kefer, the CEO of Keurig Dr Pepper.
In addition to Peet's, the brands that belong to JDE Peet's include L'OR, Jacobs, Douwe Egberts, Kenco, Pilao, OldTown, Super, and Moccona.
After the split, the coffee division will be led by a general director of the beverage business, which will be based in Frisco, Texas, while the beverage director of Keurig Dr Pepper, Sudhanshu Priyadarshi, will oversee the coffee business, which will be headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts, with a global headquarters in Amsterdam.
