China Responds to Reports of Sending Peacekeepers to Ukraine
- China has denied the information regarding the sending of peacekeepers to Ukraine.
- Discussions involving China in the peacekeeping mission were activated after the publication in ZMI.
- China does not rule out the possibility of providing guarantees of security to Ukraine.
This is reported by RBC Ukraine, Interfax Ukraine.
A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Go Tsyankun, dismissed rumors about the possible participation of the country in the international peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine. He emphasized that China's position regarding the Ukrainian conflict "is consistent and clear."
Information about China's readiness to participate in the peacekeeping mission was stated in the German publication Die Welt, which triggered active discussions in ZMI and social networks. However, Go Tsyankun confirmed that these statements do not reflect the reality.
Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, stated that Russia is not ready to guarantee security for Ukraine only with the participation of China. Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated that Ukraine does not rule out China as a potential security guarantor after the end of the war, since guarantees can only be provided by those countries that are genuinely supportive.
China also expressed its readiness to participate in the search for ways to resolve the conflict, but its official position lies in the fact that the war in Ukraine is "a crisis in Ukraine." However, according to the information from ZMI, China is unlikely to provide security guarantees to Ukraine due to limited resources and the unwillingness to create a precedent.
