This is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, RBC Ukraine.
The Kursk nuclear power plant (AES) has reduced its power output by 50% after a drone attack on the Ukrainian substation. According to information from the Russian state operator Rosenergoatom, the drone exploded during the strike, causing damage to the transformer. Firefighting units quickly extinguished the fire, but this led to a temporary reduction in output at energy block No. 3.
The Kursk AES, one of the largest nuclear power plants in western Russia, is an important link in the unified energy system of the region, supplying electricity to more than 90% of industrial enterprises in the Kursk region. The third energy block, commissioned in July 1983, has a reactor of the RBMK-1000 type with a capacity of 1000 MW.
In addition, in southern Russia, a fire has been raging at the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery for five days. The plant suffered from a drone attack on September 21, which triggered a massive fire. The city of Krasny Sulin, located nearby, was isolated from the water supply for firefighting.
Due to the large scale of the fire, the Novoshakhtinsk authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and use masks for protection. The oil refinery is the only operating facility in the Rostov region and supplies fuel for the Russian army.
According to the information, prices for oil have risen due to Ukraine's attacks on Russian infrastructure, causing disruptions to potential supplies of Russian oil.
