  • Poland will not finance Starlink for Ukraine starting January 1
  • The veto of President Karol Nawrocki leads to the discontinuation of Starlink services
  • Since 2022, Poland has provided Ukraine with 29,500 Starlink terminals

This is reported by Ukrinform, Interfax Ukraine.

Starting January 1, Poland will not be able to pay for subscriptions to Starlink for Ukraine due to the veto of President Karol Nawrocki on the law regarding the extension of aid to Ukrainian citizens. This was announced by Marek Georhgić, spokesman for the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Poland.

Nawrocki did not sign the amendment to the law, which would have continued financing until the end of the current year. As Georhgić noted, there is now no legal basis for financing Starlink from January 1.

Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Krzysztof Havkowski clarified the president's veto, stating that this leads to the discontinuation of Starlink and the preservation of data services for Ukraine. He emphasized that this harms people who are fighting for their independence.

Since 2022, Poland has already provided Ukraine with 29,500 Starlink terminals, spending nearly 323 million zlotys on this, part of which was used to pay for the subscriptions. In 2025, expenditures on subscriptions could exceed 77 million zlotys.

According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, since the beginning of the war, about 50,000 Starlink terminals have been provided due to international support, and the total number of terminals in Ukraine is estimated at 100,000.

Earlier, it was reported that Nawrocki also vetoed a law that provided for social payments and free medical assistance for unemployed citizens of Ukraine.
