President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened to investigate Chris Christie in connection with the old political scandal Bridgegate. This threat arose after former New Jersey governor Christie recently criticized Trump during an interview on ABC News.
Christie discussed issues related to Trump’s administration, including the FBI raids conducted in the home and office of former national security advisor John Bolton. Trump, in turn, reacted to the interview, accusing Christie of hypocrisy regarding the closure of the George Washington Bridge in 2013, which he attributed to the local Democratic mayor supporting him.
"Chris denied responsibility for these criminal actions. Perhaps we should re-investigate this very serious situation? Nothing is off the table!" - wrote Trump in his post on social media.
Christie, commenting on the interview, noted that Trump sees himself as the person who decides everything, ignoring the separation of powers between criminal investigations and politically elected leaders. He also emphasized that Trump’s actions indicate a desire to undermine political opponents.
Moreover, Trump expressed intent to revoke ABC News and NBC News licenses, accusing them of bias and unfairness, referring to these networks as "the radical Democratic media." These statements came in the context of a federal investigation into media bias against these networks.
