- The team is looking forward to McLaurin's return at the start of the new season.
The Washington Commanders have signed an agreement with the previous receiver Terry McLaurin for the extension of the contract for three years at the sum of 96 million dollars, reports the general.
After several months of negotiations, including public statements about the unresolved issues and requests for a trade, McLaurin reached an agreement that secures him the status of the main receiver of the team.
McLaurin, who will celebrate his 30th birthday on September 15, signed his previous contract in 2022 for three years for a sum of about 70 million dollars. He requested an extension of the contract earlier, considering that his salary no longer reflects his contribution to the team.
Receiver, selected in the third round draft of 2019 from Ohio State, has become an important part of Washington's offensive strategy, having shown stable results in previous seasons and becoming the leader in receiving yards.
McLaurin has impressive statistics, as he became the only player in the team's history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards for five consecutive seasons. In the previous season, he secured 12 touchdowns, which became the second-best indicator in the league.
The general manager of the team noted that they want McLaurin to remain with the team for a long term, although his age was a subject of discussion during negotiations. Since the start of his career, he has only missed three games due to injuries.
McLaurin returned to training after the activation of the physically unable to perform list and is expected to be ready for the start of the season on September 7, when the Commanders will face the New York Giants.
