According to TechCrunch, The Verge.
Robomart, a startup specializing in autonomous delivery robots, has unveiled its new RM5 robot, which aims to make delivery of orders economically advantageous.
The RM5 robot, which was announced on August 25, 2025, has an autonomous level 4 and can carry up to 500 pounds (227 kg). It consists of 10 separate compartments for orders, allowing multiple deliveries to be made at once.
According to the company's co-founder and CEO Ali Ahmed, the company plans to utilize these robots for launching a delivery business model similar to those already operating in the market, such as UberEats or DoorDash. Clients will pay a flat fee of $3 for delivery, which, according to Ahmed, is a more attractive option than the variable fees charged by other delivery services.
“We see this as the creation of our own autonomous market,” Ahmed noted. Robomart plans to start partnerships with retail vendors in Austin, Texas, within the next few months.
This announcement marks a new stage in the development of Robomart, which was founded in 2017. The company initially began with a "store on wheels" model and is now transitioning to delivery for orders, which, according to Ahmed, is a natural step forward.
The RM5 robot, the size of a bus, has a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour (40 km/h) and an electric range of up to 112 miles (180 km). After placing an order, the robot delivers it to the client, where they can open their compartment using a provided code.
Robomart has received less than $5 million in funding from various investors, and the company believes that its delivery model can significantly reduce operating costs for fulfilling orders.
