Cooper Lutkenhaus, a 16-year-old runner from Texas, signed a contract with Nike, becoming one of the youngest professional athletes in the USA. This occurred after his successful performance at the USA Championships, where he set a world record for juniors in the 800 meters, completing the distance in 1:42.27. This result secured him a spot at the World Championship in Tokyo, which will take place on August 16.

The decision to transition to professional sports was made after lengthy discussions with his family. Lutkenhaus noted that this is the right step for his career, as he also wants to compete with the best athletes in the world. His father, George, mentioned that before signing the contract, his son received offers from several other companies, but chose Nike.

At this stage of his career, Cooper has already set several records, including the national record for schoolboys in the 800 meters, which he broke at the Brooks PR Invitational in June, finishing in 1:46.26. Lutkenhaus also became the youngest member of the USA team, which is heading to the world championship.

This season has been very successful for him, and his family supports him in all competitions. They were present at the USA Championships in Eugene, where Cooper achieved his best result in his career.
