Former Wimbledon Champion Angela Mortimer-Barrett Has Died

Angela Mortimer-Barrett, the Wimbledon champion of 1961, has passed away at the age of 93.
She won three titles in the Grand Slam tournaments, including the French championship in 1955 and the Australian championship in 1958. In 1955, she also claimed the title in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon, defeating Anne Shilcock.
Mortimer-Barrett faced many challenges during her career, including hearing loss and problems with her eyesight. In 1967, she was awarded the MBE for her contributions to tennis.
The head of the "All England Club", Debbie Jevans, expressed her condolences to Mortimer-Barrett's family and highlighted her contribution to sports.
In 1993, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and her husband, John Barrett, joined her in 2014.
