- Sanctuary City has dismissed Lutts Pfannenstiel due to poor results.
- The club is planning a new five-year development cycle.
- Technical director John Hackworth will continue to work on the academy.
On September 25, 2025, Sanctuary City FC dismissed sports director Lutts Pfannenstiel after two unsuccessful seasons. The team failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing 12th in the conference in 2024 and 14th with 21 points in 27 matches this year.
Pfanenstiel, who worked in the position since 2020, made significant contributions to the club's development, creating infrastructure, an academy, and the MLS Next Pro team. The first season in MLS was successful—the team finished first in the Western Conference.
Club president Diego Hegli stated that this decision was a natural conclusion to the five-year cycle, and the club needs a new development strategy. He emphasized the importance of stability in sports management for achieving results on the field.
Hegli also noted that technical director John Hackworth and his team will continue to work on managing the academy and negotiating player contracts while the search for a new sports director is ongoing. The club is planning a new five-year cycle, focusing on developing a strategy that will allow them to achieve success.
Sanctuary City has also been recognized for its successes outside the field, having its current stadium in the city center and consistently filling stands during home matches.
