Michigan announced that Bryce Underwood will be the starting quarterback for the team in the opener of the 2025 season against New Mexico on August 30. This decision was announced by coach Sherrone Moore during a press conference.
Underwood, who was the top recruit in the 2024 class, will compete for the starting quarterback position with transfer students from Fresno State, Mikey Keene and Davis Warren, who was the previous starter for the team last season. The coach noted that Bryce demonstrated leadership qualities and maturity for his age.
Underwood, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds, previously played for Belleville, where he led his team to a 38-game winning streak. He plans to finish the season with a national title for Michigan, stating that his goal is to help the team achieve success.
Michigan aims to secure its 120th victory in 146 openers of the season, holding a record of 119-23-3 in those matches. The team has won nine of the last eleven season openers.
