Cracker Barrel Acknowledges It Could Have Better Engaged with Its Logo
- Cracker Barrel has acknowledged the backlash over its new logo
- The decline in sales was attributed to significant financial losses
- The company stated that the traditional image will remain on the menu
Cracker Barrel, a well-known restaurant chain, admitted that it did not engage well with its new logo, which sparked backlash among right activists and led to a decline in sales.
In its statement, the company noted: "Recent days have shown us just how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We are grateful for your loud voices. You have also shown us that we could better represent ourselves and who we have always been."
The new logo design, which features a minimalist design without the image of a farmer, was met with negative reactions, especially from right social media users. After the announcement of the new logo, the company's stock fell by 12% in one day.
Cracker Barrel reminded its clients that the image of "Grandpa Herschal," which is traditionally associated with the restaurant, remains a part of the menu and branding. The company emphasized that "he's not gone - he's our family."
The decline in sales was attributed to losses of $94 million in just one day, and on the following day of the campaign, the stock again fell to $54.26 per share.
This incident has become part of a broader discussion about "cultural wars," where right activists are challenging changes in traditional brands and their image.
