Jakobi Meyers requested a trade from the Raiders after failed contract negotiations
- Meyers requested a trade due to the lack of an agreement regarding the contract.
- He had the best season in 2024, but has one year left on his contract.
- The Raiders drafted new receivers, which may affect Meyers.
HENDERSON, Nevada — Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders after failing to reach an agreement for a contract extension. He has one year remaining on a three-year deal that includes a base salary of $10.5 million.
In 2024, Meyers had the best season of his career, making 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. He was the only receiver in the NFL to have at least 85 receptions and not drop a single pass.
After former receiver Devante Adams requested a trade at the start of the 2024 season, the Raiders viewed Meyers as their primary receiver. However, in the 2025 draft, the team selected two new receivers, which could indicate a potential replacement for Meyers.
General manager Jon Spanos and head coach Pete Carroll expressed their readiness to continue contracts with players from last year's roster, but the situation with Meyers may become complicated due to rookie Jake Bech, who has similar skills.
Meyers expressed a desire to remain with the team, but the negotiations for a contract extension have stalled. The Raiders, in turn, do not plan to satisfy his request for a trade and continue to seek players on the market.
