U.S. President Donald Trump announced the dismissal of Lisa Cook from her position as governor of the Federal Reserve System. This decision was made against the backdrop of allegations of fraud that emerged from the director of the Federal Housing Administration, William Pulte.
In a letter, publicly shared by Trump on social media, it is stated that Cook's dismissal corresponds to her responsibilities, as outlined in the Constitution. Trump is facing a criminal case that was initiated against Pulte on August 15.
Lisa Cook, who became the first African American woman in this position, stated that she has no intention of submitting a resignation and is ready to respond to questions regarding her financial history. She emphasized that the dismissal was only communicated through the media.
It is noted that Cook received criticism from Trump and his administration for providing misleading information about her financial obligations. According to information, Cook indicated two irregularities as the main places of residence, which are violations of tax norms.
