The Cleveland Browns confirmed that they have finalized an agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders for the transfer of quarterback Kenny Pickett for the fifth round draft pick. The pick will become a reserve for Geno Smith in the new team.
The pick was received during the training camp on July 26, which allowed him to fully train during the training camp. He did not play a single game in the preseason match, and competition for the starting quarterback position did not take place. The Browns announced Joe Flacco as their main quarterback last week.
This agreement confirms the involvement of Browns in rookie Dillon Gabriel, who takes the place of the second quarterback in the starting lineup. The team retains three quarterbacks in its roster: Flacco, Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.
The pick was given to the Browns at the beginning of the transition period in the offseason. Earlier, he played 25 matches for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and last year he was a reserve quarterback in the Super Bowl championships of Philadelphia.
