Negotiations on security guarantees for Ukraine are underway

- The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine explained the necessity of legal binding guarantees.
- There is a discussion about the possibility of new security guarantees for Ukraine.
US Vice President J. D. Vance stated about the "energetic diplomacy" of the Trump administration, which, in his opinion, could end the war between Ukraine and Russia. He emphasized that both sides are ready for "significant steps". Meanwhile, Russian diplomat Sergey Lavrov noted that meetings between Presidents Putin and Zelensky are not planned at this time.
The head of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiha, discussed Ukraine's position regarding security guarantees with US Secretary of State Mark Rubio and European colleagues. He confirmed that guarantees should be legally binding and effective, and also called for the activation of diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.
Sybiha noted that Ukraine is ready for negotiations at all levels, but if Russia does not take constructive steps, it will lead to further consequences, including intensified sanctions.
At the same time, after the meeting of Trump with Putin in Almaty, new security guarantees for Ukraine are being discussed, which may be prohibited after a peace agreement is reached with Russia. These guarantees, according to Trump, should involve the participation of European countries.
