Launching a campaign to combat "earphone dodgers" in London
- The campaign highlights the misuse of earphones in transportation.
- 70% of respondents consider loud music unacceptable.
- Politicians propose fines for violating behavior rules.
A new campaign is being launched in London aimed at those passengers who listen to music or watch videos in public transport without using earphones. The campaign is initiated by the organization Transport for London (TfL) in response to numerous complaints from other passengers.
Posters with calls to use earphones will appear on the "Elizabeth" line starting September 26, as well as on other TfL routes throughout the autumn. The goal of the campaign is to remind users of the need to be considerate to others.
According to a TfL survey, 70% of respondents believe that loud music and phone conversations without earphones are unacceptable. The Deputy Mayor of London, Seb Dance, noted that most people use earphones, but a small portion who do not may create discomfort for others.
As part of the campaign, the term "bare beating" is also discussed, which describes a situation where a person allows sounds from their phone to resonate throughout the entire carriage, not using earphones. This trend has become a common topic of discussion among users of social media, who express their annoyance through such behavior.
The campaign is also supported by politicians, including Liberal Democrats, who propose to impose fines of up to 1,000 pounds sterling for those who violate behavior rules on public transport.
The Ministry of Transport emphasizes that there are already strict rules in place that prohibit antisocial behavior on public transport, including the possibility of imposing fines on offenders.
