The European Union is preparing the 19th sanctions package against Russia, which is expected to be presented next month. According to Politico, the new measures are aimed at weakening the military economy of Russia, but will not include significant restrictions on the sale of energy resources that finance the war against Ukraine.

Diplomats note that the main pressure on Moscow can only be exerted by the USA, which has a real impact on the economy of the Kremlin. The main goals of the new package will be the oil fleet and companies that help Russia circumvent the sanctions.

Among the possible new measures is a restriction on the free movement of Russian diplomats in the Schengen zone, which would hinder the activities of Russian special services in Europe. The foreign ministers of the EU will meet informally to discuss economic restrictions against Russia.

In the past, the EU has already introduced a series of restrictions, including setting a minimum price for Russian oil and banning the import of oil products from Russian raw materials.
