Manchester United Prepares for the Match Against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup

  • Ruben Amorim considers the absence of European matches to be a positive for the team.
  • In the match against Grimsby, a rotation of the Manchester United squad is expected.
  • Both Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana may get a chance to play in the Carabao Cup.

The head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, believes that the absence of European competitions this season is positively affecting the team.

After finishing 15th in the Premier League and suffering a defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham, the club is set to participate in the Carabao Cup for the first time since 1990. This indicates that Manchester United will begin its journey in the Carabao Cup in one round earlier, with the match against Grimsby taking place in midweek.

Ruben Amorim noted that the absence of European matches gives more time for the team's preparation. "We were not ready to play in Europe and the Premier League. We needed more time for development," he added.

The team is expected to see a rotation of players. Among those who may get a chance is young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and goalkeeper Andre Onana, who have yet to step onto the pitch this season. It is also planned that newcomer Benjamin Sesko, who came from RB Leipzig, will make his first start.

As for defender Nusayr Mazraoui, his participation in the match is still in question due to injury. Amorim confirmed that he is undergoing the final training sessions to be fit, stating that he does not report any new issues.

The club is hoping for improved results, especially since in the first two matches of the Premier League, the team has only earned one point.
