Today, the rules for military conscription for men up to 22 years old will be updated

Today, on August 26, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will update the rules for military service for individuals aged 18 to 22 years. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky noted that at today's government meeting, all details were agreed upon with the military command, and the corresponding opportunities should be implemented as soon as possible.

The President also emphasized that during the report of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, cooperation with Norway was discussed in the context of preparing for the heating season and extending the border assistance for purchasing natural gas.

In addition, the expansion of the eVidnovlennia program was discussed, which provides more opportunities for compensation for losses incurred in temporarily occupied territories.

Update on conscription rules

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky proposed simplifying the conscription process for young Ukrainians up to 22 years old. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also stated that this issue is regulated by the Cabinet and does not require the adoption of a separate law.

On August 25, the Verkhovna Rada registered a draft law that changes the conscription process from Ukraine for conscripts up to 25 years old. The document was initiated by people's deputy Fedir Venislavskyi and a group of lawmakers.

What the draft law provides

The law "On the procedure for conscription from Ukraine and exit from Ukraine for citizens of Ukraine" stipulates that the restrictions on conscription do not apply to conscripts and reservists who, in the current or next year, have not reached the conscription age during mobilization.

Changes are also made to the article regulating the conscription of military servicemen, with the clarification that "unless otherwise provided by law".
