SNL Actors Deven Uker and Celesta Im Leave the Show
- Deven Uker announced his exit from SNL after three seasons.
- Celesta Im is also leaving the show, citing her experience.
- Changes in the cast ahead of the 51st season are scheduled for July 2025.
Deven Uker announced his exit from Saturday Night Live after three seasons of participation. He published a statement on Instagram on August 25, in which he compared working in the industry to a roller coaster, noting that some of them last a long time, while others do not. In his post, he wrote: "We spent three years together, and it was sometimes really great. Sometimes it was toxic, like a pickle."
Deven joined the show in 2022 and starred in numerous sketches, parodying famous personalities. In his own statement, he mentioned that this is "good news" and it’s time to do something new.
Celesta Im, the first openly transgender cast member of the show, also announced her exit on August 24. She described her experience on SNL as "grueling" and "exhausting," but also "inspiring." In her publication, she noted that working on the show became a realization of her dream, even though she faced many challenges.
These two exits mark the first step towards planned changes in the cast ahead of the 51st season, which begins on July 4, 2025. Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, previously promised significant changes in the team, aiming to "revitalize" the show.
