Stabilization of Forest Fires in Oregon and Threats to Vineyards in California

The forest fire, which destroyed four buildings in central Oregon, is beginning to stabilize, while the fire in northern California has not caused damage to known vineyards in the state. About 1,200 firefighters are working on the Flat Fire incident in the areas of Deschutes and Jefferson, which has burned 34 square miles since it started on Thursday.

Despite the rain, temperatures have dropped, but the fire remains only 5% contained. Authorities have announced evacuations for over 4,000 households, but some orders have been rescinded.

In California, the Pickett fire has consumed nearly 10 square miles of designated territory in Napa County, known for its vineyards, and currently, it is 15% contained. The owner of the vineyard, Hundred Acre Wines, Jason Woodbridge, reported that the fire passed close to his building, but thanks to the direction of the wind, his vineyard was not affected.

In the state of Montana, unfortunately, there was an unfortunate incident: a 60-year-old firefighter died from a heart attack during the firefighting operations of the Bivens Creek fire. In the western states of the USA, hot weather continues to hinder the work of firefighters. Temperatures have reached unprecedented levels, which has led to hospitalization of residents.

In central California, the largest fire of the year, the Gifford Fire, is currently 95% contained after destroying over 206 square miles of dry vegetation since September 1. It should be noted that specific fires are linked to climatic changes, which indicate that human activity leads to more intense heat waves and drought, which, in turn, creates conditions for destructive forest fires.
