- Viewers are starting to notice high activity and skill levels of the players.
Organizers of the Women's Rugby World Cup declare that the high level of disruptions will not stop the tournament's dynamics. The first weekend of competition saw a significant turnout, with over 85,000 viewers watching all the opening group matches.
In particular, the match between England and the USA, where the English team won with a score of 69-7, set a record with a peak audience of 2.4 million viewers. France also achieved a record over Italy with a score of 24-0, which attracted 3.2 million viewers in France.
Despite the large score margins, organizers believe that over time, matches will become more competitive. Tournament director Yvonne Nolan noted that different teams go through various stages of development, and competition helps reduce the score gaps in equal matches.
At the same time, World Rugby representative Sally Horrocks stressed that large score gaps in matches do not always reflect the true state of affairs in the games. She pointed out that viewers see more active play with the ball and a high level of skill.
Canada, England, and New Zealand demonstrated dominating performances, winning their matches with large margins. However, all teams acknowledge that there is still work to be done.
Throughout the next week of the tournament, new matches are expected, where teams will strive to improve their performances and reduce score gaps. According to conducted surveys, fans were satisfied with the atmosphere and emotions that the World Cup brings.
