According to the police, the American tourist, 20 years old, sustained serious injuries, requiring emergency medical attention, after being targeted in the tram. During the incident, he suffered deep stab wounds to the face.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday, but later released due to a lack of evidence. However, after additional investigations, he was again linked to the subsequent assault involving serious bodily harm.
The U.S. consulate in Berlin condemned the attack, urging German authorities to swiftly implement measures against the criminals. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
