Letters were exchanged between Ukraine and Russia

On August 26, 2025, Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that during the last exchange with Russia, there was a communication with the Russian office of the authorized human rights representative Tetyana Moskalkova. They discussed the issue of humanitarian aid transfer, as well as the reunification of families.
In the exchange that took place on August 24, Ukraine returned military personnel, representatives of practically all branches of service, and all civilians. Among the released was journalist Dmytro Khilyuk, who had been in captivity since 2022. Also returned was ex-mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Mykolaienko, who had refused to cooperate with Russia. The released civilians included doctor Serhiy Kovalov from the battalion "Hospitallers".
Lubinets noted that during the exchange, the released received letters from their relatives. This is an important step in humanitarian aid issues and communication between the countries.
